Musharraf decides to quit-new President selected within 30 to 60 days
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday finally decided to resign within next few days, private TV channel reported. President Musharraf’s close aides were trying to finalize the safe passage strategy, it was also learnt that presidency sources would contact with PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif soon in this regard.
President is in contact with his friends brigadier ® Niaz Ahmed and Col ® Ghulam Sarwar Cheema about the latest developments regarding the impeachment motion against him. He took his family members into confidence about exit strategy and how to avoid cases after resignation.
According to the constitution, in case of successful impeachment motion against President Musharraf, new president will have to be selected within minimum 30 days and maximum 60 days. Meanwhile Chairman Senate will be the acting President of the country for interim period. A well placed source told that the government has directed (verbally), even before the impeachment, to all provincial governments that not to invite the President in any function.-SANA

Unfortunate indeed. The president should have resigned soon after the election. He made the worst mistake of his life when he doffed his uniform. I have full sympathy with him.
