ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced to provide all possible assistance to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is under US detention and facing trial in a New York court. Briefing newsmen in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq hoped that the United States Government would provide full medical assistant to her as she is not keeping good health and was injured while being arrested.
The spokesman said Pakistan has officially been informed by the US authorities that Dr. Aafia was taken in US custody from Afghan authorities on 17th of last month in Ghazni and has been transferred to the US on 3rd of this month. To another question he said Pakistan is not yet aware of the circumstances, timings and reasons of her arrest and whereabouts of her three missing children.
Dr. Fuzia Saddique- sister of the detained Pakistani woman Dr. Aafia Saddique in US prison- has landed here Thursday. Earlier, she left Karachi for Islamabad. On her arrival Talking to a Private TV channel at Islamabad airport, Fauzia Siddiqui said her arrested sister in US detention, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, bore sever injuries and she is not provided proper Medical treatment. She said that Aafia is even not allowed to meet or talk to her counselor. Fauzia said that she would inform the media in Islamabad about inhuman treatment of her sister by the US authorities.-SANA
