RAWALPINDI: The Nullah Lai in the heart of Rawalpindi was flooded Saturday as the early Monsoon rains lashed the twin cities inundating almost all the rounds and streets. Residents of Gawal Mandi on the bank of the Nullah Lai have been alarmed and people living in areas near the main rain drain have been cautioned to evacuate their homes if the water level continues to rise.
According to reports, water level has risen to 16 and 15 feet in Kanarian Bridge and Gawal Mandi respectively. Nearby residents have been directed to shift at safe places. Rescue teams have arrived at the affected areas. The SP traffic has appealed to citizens not to bring their vehicles on roads. Several accidents took place on the main Faisal Avenue due to heavy downpour and poor visibility.-SANA
