BB’s 55th birth anniversary to be observed
ISLAMABAD: The 55th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto will be observed through out the country today (Saturday). The main function will be held at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, the ancestral village and family graveyard of Bhutto family in Larkana district.
The ceremony will start with blood donation by party leaders and workers besides Quran Khawani for the departed soul. Sindh Chief Minister along with Cabinet Members and leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party will lay floral wreath on the Mazar and offer Fateh. A public meeting will also be held.
A special train, Kalandar Express is being run tomorrow between Larkana and Karachi to facilitate the people. Blood donation and Quran Khawani will form the core of the 55th birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto falling today (Saturday June 21). The events to be held throughout the country will be low key affairs with no fanfare and no cake cutting. The main event in this connection in the twin cities will be held in Rawalpindi at the Liaquat Bagh venue where she was assassinated on December 27 last. The event will start at 6:00 pm.
The event at Rawalpindi is being organized by Pakistan Peoples Party Rawalpindi in the supervision of City President, Zamrud Khan. Large scale portraits of Shaheed Mohtarma with flowers and candle light around will adorn the venue of all events and Quran Khawani will be held at maximum number of places. The Party leaders and workers will donate blood on the day at special camps to be set up for the purpose.
A blood donation Camp will be set up on Saturday June 21 at the Liaquat Bagh venue of assassination where the Party workers will donate blood during the day. Later in the evening a commemorative event marked by Quran Khawani and a vigil will be held to pay homage to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Federal Ministers, MNAs and Party leaders from the twin cities including Raja Pervez Ashraf Minister for Water and Power, Qamar Zaman Qaira Minister for Kashmir Affairs.
As a token of tribute to intellectual and golden brain of Indus Civilization Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the Islamabad-based writers and intellectuals have also decided to donate their blood on her 55th birth anniversary which falls Saturday. Hashim Abro of the Pakistan Intellectual Forum ( PIF)said that more than two dozen of intellectuals and writers hailing from different parts of the country will donate their blood on the birth anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarama who laid down her life as to give new life to this country and countrymen.
Appreciating the PPP leadership’s decision regarding donation of blood on BB’s birthday Hashim Abro of the PIF said that this decision of the PPP leadership reflects their deep insight, wisdom and visionary approach. “Shaheed Mohtarma was a comet. She dazzled her way through life. She was a great advocate of human harmony; her speeches at different international forums, write-ups speak volumes of it. Hence, all those who adore humanity are duty bound to pay homage to this great leader, writer and intellectual whose life was great, godly and glorious, on this day”" Abro.
Dr. Ghulam Hyder Buriro said that she put Motherland in the forefront of her mind. ” Prime Ministers come and go, but the name of Shaheed Rani ( Martyred Queen) whom people of Sindh affectionately call “” Marvi Malir Ji”, will everlastingly star the political and intellectual firmament of the world.” The writers have urged the government to establish ” Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Memorial Public Library” at the divisional level and “”Shaheed Rani Blood Bank”" in every Hospital” across the country.
