Pakistan seeks support against terrorism

WASHINGTON: Pakistan has sought the support of the international community to defeat terrorism. This has been stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani while addressing members of Pakistani American Congress here. He called for multi-faceted efforts by all the parties to gain success in the fight against terrorism. He said a new strategic plan is being prepared by the Pakistan government to curb terrorism and extremism.

Mr. Haqqani said that Pakistan will do more to defeat terrorists along the Afghan border but all the partners must contribute their efforts to achieve success. Pakistan’s envoy also dwelt at length on the government’s five point strategy including political, military, intelligence, ideological and social economic development to deal with the menace of terrorism. About Pakistan-US relationship, Mr. Hussain Haqqani said that the two sides must develop a strategic partnership in their mutual interest.-SANA
