ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Information Technology recommends waiving off of sales tax on computers in the upcoming budget in order to boost computer industry. The ministry sent its recommendations to the Federal Board of Revenue here Thursday. Computer industry was hit with a fifteen percent sales tax last year that stifled the faster growth potential of the industry. The Information Ministry pleaded that the computer industry had immense growth potential that needs to be encouraged by waiver of tax.
