ISLAMABAD: Commenting on a report that Osama Bin Laden has been located in Northern Pakistan, Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed has said that the United States has been in search of a pretext to invade Pakistan’s tribal and northern areas for a long time. “I quoted from George Friedman’s book wherein he has written that if NATO forces had to enter the northern areas of Pakistan in the pursuit of terrorists, they would do so. If Pakistan disintegrated as a result of this invasion India could occupy some of its areas. It is actually a roadmap to this motive and NATO presence in Afghanistan is a danger for us,” Qazi told a private TV channel.

We cannot save us by allying ourselves to coalition forces as a front line state. The NATO commanders have said they have right to invade tribal areas if terrorists present there posed any danger to their forces in Afghanistan, he said. Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that the US has no right to interfere in our territory on pretext of pursuit of terrorists under International Law and UN charter. He said foreign invasion in Afghanistan and presence of US and NATO forces in that country has further boosted the terrorism in this region.

“The establishment in Pakistan is infested with the foreign agents who act upon their master’s agenda. These people do not have any perception of the long-term benefits for our own country. We even make our educational policy on the foreign dictation. We have different educational systems for our own country, what kind of nation we are building by giving such an educational system,” he lamented.

We are facing a great challenge now. They want us to remain at loggerheads with each other and the US interference is responsible for the presence of Musharraf in power. The US Senators and government functionaries pressurize the politicians to cooperate with Pervez Musharraf, he added. The US embassy is the root cause of problem not the Pervez Musharraf, Qazi maintained.

He said the situation would remain similar unless we get independence from the US leaders of both the major parties have to go to the US embassy for getting instructions. To a question about judicial crisis, Qazi said the real Supreme Court should be restored and should be given responsibility to resolve the issues. The sitting Supreme Court is not the real one as dictator has installed it.-SANA
