KARACHI: The power crisis in the metropolis further deepened when power shortfall in Karachi was enhanced by 800 megawatt as another unit of the Bin Qasim power plant was tripped . Bin Qasim power plant’s unit four was closed late night after leakage developed in its boiler, KESC officials said. The closure caused suspension of 120-megawatt power supply to the city. The power plant’s unit-1, 3 and six were already closed due to technical faults. Moreover Wapda is supplying 300-megawatt power to Karachi instead of 500 megawatts. The difference between demand and supply of power in Karachi has reached to 800 megawatts due to which all residential areas undergoing two-hour load shedding after every hour, said the officials.
