ISLAMABAD: Federal Budget for the fiscal year 2008-09 will be presented in the National Assembly on the seventh of next month. This was stated by the Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar at a news conference here on Monday. He said non development expenditure would be slashed and direct relief would be provided to the poor segments of the society. He said measures are being taken to enhance the tax base but this would be done after consultation with the investors and other stakeholders. He said higher mark up may be given on saving schemes besides new instruments would be explored to generate revenues including floating of bonds.-SANA
