DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat -Ulema-e-Islam Amir Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman Saturday that there is danger of a big political confrontation from the awyers struggle in near future. Talking to SANA on Saturday, Maulana Fazalur Rehman urged the politicians to demonstrate patient and avoid confrontation. He suggested that 17th constitutional amendment should be completely abolished as the Aiwan-e-Sadar should accept some thing.
He appreciated Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s proposed constitutional package terming it ‘an important development’ to further strengthen democratic institutions in the country. The JUI Amir however said that he would be able to further comment on the package after studying it in detail. He said the parliament was a sovereign body and nobody should dare to pressurize and interfere in its working.
To a question, he welcomed the proposal in the package about changing name of NWFP province, adding it has been a long-standing demand of MMA. He said that the JUI would support if the constitutional package take step to end the Local Bodies system. About law and order situation in NWFP, Maulana Fazalur Rehman pointed out that it was too early to comment on it as some forces were striking deal while some elements were trying to sabotage this process. He said that Nawaz Sharif was sharply minimizing the possibilities of his return into federal cabinet.-SANA
