LAHORE: Pakistan Bar Counsel (PBC) has announced to launch a long march from June 30 for the restoration of deposed judges. This was announced by Vice Chairman (PBC) Saad Rehman while addressing a press conference on Saturday. President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan was also present on the occasion. Saad Rehman said the name of the long march would be “Adliya Bahali Long March” (long march for the restoration of judiciary). ” Real democracy and development process could not possible unless there is independent judiciary”, he said. A committee was set up to finalize details regarding the starting point, routes and other matters for launching the march.

Earlier, the PBC Friday meeting decided to intensify the lawyer’s movement for the reinstatement of all deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Talking to BBC, Lawyers leader Ali Ahmad Kurd made it clear that the lawyers’ movement was peaceful and it did not want to create problem for the new coalition government. He vowed that the lawyers’ community would continue their peaceful movement till the restoration of all those judges who did not take under President Pervez Musharraf Provisional Constitutional Order.-SANA
