Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers accepted for Bye-polls

Nawaz, Shahbaz, Aitzaz, Sh. Rashid nomination papers accepted; Nawaz to contest from NA-123; PML-N welcomes approval of Nawaz nomination papers

LAHORE: The nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, former Chief Minister of Punjab and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif have been accepted. The scrutiny of nomination papers for bye-elections’ on 38 seats of national and provincial assemblies was continued on the second day. The election tribunal has accepted the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif to contest bye-elections from NA-123. The nomination papers of the PML-N covering candidate Hamza Shahbaz were also accepted by the tribunal. Previously The returning officer announcing his decision on the objections of rival candidates against the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif accepted the nomination of the former Prime Minister on Thursday.

The nomination papers of PML-N covering candidates for the constituency Hamza Shahbaz, Zaeem Qadri, Muslim League (Q) candidate Akhlaq Guddu, independent candidates Noor Illahi, Riaz Gujjar and Ashraf Jahangir were also accepted. Nomination of Pakistan Muslim League-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif to contest election from Lahore provincial constituency PP-154 was also accepted. Meanwhile, the nominations of President Supreme Court Bar Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and former Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid to contest elections from NA-55 Rawalpindi were also accepted.

The election tribunal has accepted the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif to contest bye-elections from NA-123. The nomination papers of the PML-N covering candidate Hamza Shahbaz were also accepted by the tribunal. It may be noted that the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif were rejected during the general elections. Meanwhile, the hearing of objections against nomination papers of Shahbaz Sharif was adjourned. The judgment on the objections by the rival candidate was earlier reserved by the returning officers of NA-123. The returning officer also accepted nomination papers of Muslim League (Q) candidate Akhlaq Guddu, independent candidates Noor Illahi, Riaz Gujjar and Ashraf Jahangir.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq has appreciated decision about the acceptance of nomination papers of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and added it boost prestige of the judiciary. Talking to Private TV Channel on Thursday, Raja Zafarul Haq hoped this decision would discourage the constrictors and termed approval of Nawaz Sharif nomination papers as historic verdict which would bring positive change in politics of the country.

To a question, Zafarul Haq pointed out that though there were no legal complications in the acceptance of nomination papers of the PML-N Quaid yet the conspirators failed to keep Nawaz Sharif keep away from the National Assembly. He hoped Nawaz Sharif would play more active role in the politics after becoming member of the parliament. The PMLN Chairman said that he would make comment after review the package about the restoration of judges if it is tabled in the joint session of the parliament.
