PM urges for cooperation to face crisis; contacts Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said the country is in the grip of serious crisis requiring cooperation and joint efforts to strengthen democracy. He was On Tuesday speaking while hosting a reception in honour of PML Ministers which was also attended by other members of the cabinet. Syed Raza Gilani said the nation is facing serious crisis of judiciary, constitution strengthening of the institutions, unemployment, poverty and inflation which would be overcome with the cooperation of the allied parties.The nation has high hopes from its sanner and mature leadership and all our institutions need to support each other in this regard. Furthermore Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has had a telephonic conversation with PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif assured the Prime Minister of his Party’s continued support and cooperation to the Government for strengthening of democratic institutions in the country. He said the decision of resignations from the Cabinet was painful for him.
Referring to the issue of the restoration of deposed judges the Prime Minister said there is no doubt on either side about sincere intentions of the other partner but the only difference is just on its modalities. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also appealed the judiciary to show some flexibility to save the country from the crisis. He pointed out that soon after seeking the vote of confidence he had ordered release of the deposed judges.Recalling the strong partnership between the two coalition partners the Prime Minister said despite separate identities and manifestos the two parties had joined hands for the restoration of democracy, deposed judges and independence of media.
It has been informed that Pakistan Peoples’ Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari advised Nawaz Sharif to withheld resignations till return of the former from abroad but he did not agree. According to sources, Asif Zardari contacted the Pakistan Muslim League Chief on telephone and tried to persuade him to meet him in Pakistan after his return from abroad that was turned down by the PML-N chief. Asif then contacted Prime Minister Gilani and both the leaders discussed the issue.-SANA
