Kurd alleges govt of wasting time after Murre Declaration

Submitted by Rubab Saleem on April 29, 2008 – 11:23 pmNo Comment

ISLAMABAD: An active leader of the lawyers’ movement Ali Ahmad Kurd has accused the government of wasting time by not taking initiative to reinstate judges under the Murree Declaration after formation of the government. The matter is simple and there are no complexities in it. However, the issue is being made complicated. Only three days are left in the given deadline. Mr. Shahbaz Sharif himself went to Dubai along with his team to discuss the issue with Mr. Asif Ali Zardari. Anyhow, something should be clearly announced today, otherwise, lawyers should not be blamed later on that they have not given chance to the government, he said.

“After the Murree declaration they should have taken the initiative. They have wasted the time. And if more time is wasted then the issue will get further complicated.” “We have called in lawyers meeting on April 30, we are free. After November 2, judiciary does not exists in the country. People are observing role of Nawaz Sharif and Zardari, we also have an obligation to the people. One lac lawyers had been protesting for the last 14 months.”

We will serve the democracy, we will be thankful to the present democratic government if it undo a decree of a dictator under which many judges were removed with a single flick of eye, he added.-SANA
