ISLAMABAD: Afghan President Hamid Karzai has supported Pakistan’s move to make peace with the local Taliban who do not pose any threat. In an interview, he said that he is confident of the new Pakistan government’s good intentions. The Afghan leader said that the change of government in Pakistan could bring progress against terrorism.

He said we are desirous of good relations with the new PPP led government in Pakistan. It is worth mentioning that previously Afghanistan had opposed Pakistan agreement with the local Taliban in the tribal areas. This is another time that Pakistan is negotiating peace with the local Taliban. The new statement by Afghan president is viewed as a shift in policy of the country.-SANA
