Punjab sets wheat purchasing target of 3 Million Tonnes

LAHORE: The government of Punjab has set the wheat purchasing target of three million tonnes during the current year here Monday. Addressing a press conference here, Punjab Food Secretary Sirat Asghar said that the mills owners, dealers and shopkeepers hoarded wheat in the wake of subsidized price that has shot from Rs465 to Rs615.
He revealed that the impression of wheat shortage is not right, as there are at least four lakh tonnes of wheat in the province. He added that measures were underway to stop smuggling for which Rangers’ help may be sought.-SANA
