Rising trend of committing suicide
ISLAMABAD: Trend of committing suicide is on increase in Pakistan due to price hike, unemployment, depression and injustice says a survey report conducted in six cities of the country.
According to the findings of the report, there is a rising trend of committing suicide that has shown prevalence in females over males. However, there is no official data to support this argument but the present survey shows that among the 39 people who committed suicide in Peshawar during 1991-2000, 29 males and 10 females. Those who committed suicide in Lahore during 1993-1995 include 65 males and 35 females while in Karachi, 1379 persons committed suicide during 1995-2001, including 863 males and 516 females. In Faisalabad, 67 males and 28 females committed this heinous crime during 1998-2001. Almost 17 females and 52 males committed suicide during 2002-2004. In Rawalpindi alone 52 persons, including 3 women, committed suicide during 2006.-SANA
