LAHORE: Ikramullah Khan Niazi, father of Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Mianwali after his funeral prayer was offered at Zaman Park here on Thursday. Ameer Jamaat Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed led the funeral prayers, attended by a large number of people including former president Rafique Tarar, Pervaiz Malik, Justice Nasim Hasan Shah and Chairman Wapda Shakeel Durrani, SM Zafar and Sartaj Aziz.

Ikramullah Khan Niazi was later laid to rest in the ancestral graveyard in Mianwali. The 85 years old Ikramullah Niazi was seriously ill for the last two months and was shifted the ICU ward of Shaukat Khunam Memorial Trust Hospital, where he breathed his last the other day. Political leaders including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and MQM Chief Altaf Hussain expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Imran Khan’s father.
