Pakistan condemns blasphemous cartoons
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan says that republication of cartoons has deeply offended Muslim’s feelings and Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the highly provocative the act of republication of blasphemous cartoons in the Danish press. In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said Wednesday that no civilised society should allow disrespect of the beliefs of the other community.
He said goals of protecting Danish values and freedom of press should not be achieved at the cost of hurting sentiments of Muslims all over the world by publication of blasphemous cartoons.The spokesman said that there are laws in Western countries which prohibit media from publishing contents that hurt the sentiments of certain communities. He said Pakistan expects that the Western countries should equally sensitive to respecting the feelings of Muslims and should not allow insult under the guise of freedom of expression.-SANA
