Senate passes resolution terming Chairman NEPRA appointment against norms
ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Tuesday passed a resolution terming appointment of Chairman NEPRA against the accepted norms. The resolution moved by leader of the opposition Mian Raza Rabbani recommended that the government officials should hold only one office at a time.
Minister for Information, Nisar A Memon objected to presentation of the resolution verbally and said it should have been made available to members in black and white. Referring to criticism about appointment of new Chairman PEMRA, he said the four-year term of the former Chairman was over before elections and the new appointment was made according to the rules. He said the government was well within its authority to exercise its powers to run the affairs of the government.-SANA
