ISLAMABAD: A three member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar, Justice Ijaz ul Hassan and Justice Ch Ejaz Yousaf on Thursday directed the Lahore High Court to decide the appeal of Syed Ali Hassan Gillani, the PML (N) candidate for National Assembly from Bahawalpur against rejection of his nomination papers.
His nomination papers had been rejected after objection by his rival candidate Syed Sami ul Hassan Gillani of PML (Q) who happens to be his step brother. The papers were rejected on the basis of a notice by Tehsil Muncipal Officer for Rs 325,000 to Syed Ali Hassan Gillani.
Dr Babar Awan appeared on behalf of the appellant. It may be mentioned here that Syed Ali Hassan Gillani was elected MNA from Bahawalpur in 2002 and later he joined PML (N).-SANA
