Rally to express solidarity with deposed CJ on Jan 24

RAWLPINDI: Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association has announced to hold a rally at the Constitution Avenue, Islamabad on January 24 to express solidarity with deposed the deposed judges including chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. This was announced by Sardar Asmatullah, president of the bar association while addressing a press conference here on Monday. Those present on the occasion, included general secretary Sajid Ilyas Bhatti, joint secretary Malik Shafique, Ehsan Qureshi, Ijaz Ahmed and Zulfikar Abbas Naqvi.

Sardar Asmatullah announced that the rally would start at 11 am and its participants would march to the residence of the deposed chief justice. He said this decision had been taken by the High Court Bar Association in consultation with the lawyers at divisional level.

He said that it had been decided to bring intensity in the campaign for solidarity with the deposed judges. “Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges are still judges under the constitution,” he said. Sardar Asmatullah said that Pakistan Bar Council decision to end boycott of the courts would be discussed in today’s (Tuesday) meeting of Punjab Bar Council in Lahore.-SANA
