RAWALPINDI: Judge Special Accountability Court No. 2, Rawalpindi Ch Muhammad Yunus has ordered to delete the name of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto from the SGS and ARY Gold references. The court adjourned the hearing for January 30 against 18 persons nominated in both the references including PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. These references also include names of foreigners.
Earlier the judge asked as to why the hearing of these references should not be postponed till the verdict of the Supreme Court in National Reconciliation Ordinance, 2007 case. Arshad Tabrez, Bashir Ahmed Ranjha, Muhammad Ashraf Khan and Malik Muhammad Ali appeared on behalf of Benazir Bhutto and others. However, no full time prosecutor from NAB appeared before the court.
After the hearing began, Benazir Bhutto’s counsel Arshad Tabrez told the court that her client had been martyred at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi on December 27 last and the case had become ineffective to her extent. He requested to adjourn the case for other accused till January 30.-SANA
