ISLAMABAD: Major General Athar Abbas has been appointed as the new Director General of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). He will assume the charge of his new appointment on January 15, 2008, said an ISPR press release, issued. General Abbas hailing from Armoured Corps, will be replacing Major General Waheed Arshad, who has been appointed Director General Planning at Chief of Army Staff Secretariat. General Abbas is currently working as Director General Military Land and Cantonments. He has been GOC Kharian and has also served as instructor at both Staff College, Quetta and National defence College, Islamabad.-SANA
