KASUR: Former foreign minister and PML leader Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri has said that lasting peace in South Asia was impossible without resolving the Kashmir dispute. Talking to newsmen here, he said that the world community should pressurize India to agree to the four-point formula of President Musharraf, which is the most viable and effective solution to the long-standing issue.
He said that in the current environment of globalization, it is essential that we have friendly relations with neighbouring countries, which will not only promote trade, it will also ensure peace in the region.“During my tenure I successfully promoted better relations with China and India, negotiated the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project and helped to raise the image of Pakistan among the comity of nations,” observed the former foreign minister.
He said that for trade with India, both the governments agreed with his proposal that it is better to open and use the Ganda Singh Wala border rather than Wagah. He said a number of uplift works, including gas and power supply, and the roads network were carried out in the district during his tenure, and said that he had fulfilled all promises made to the people in the last elections, and would continue to serve the people if elected again.-SANA
