ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Dilshad has called upon the media to play a positive role in creating public awareness regarding the importance of exercising their right to vote. Addressing the National Conference on General Elections 2008, he said that 65,000 polling stations would be set-up across the country, adding that a polling staff, consisting of 550,000 people, would be assigned duties after proper training.
He indicated that almost 81 million registered voters were likely to use their right to vote.
He said that 50,000 special cards would be issued to journalists. Around 2,000 people from the foreign media were also expected to cover the elections, he added.-SANA
