PARIS:France urged president Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf to lift the state emergency and hold a free fair election according to the earlier schedule. Talking to media, foreign minister Spokesman Pascale Andreani said, ‘We underscore the importance that we accord to the respect for the rule of law and public freedoms.,’ added, ‘We therefore demand a lifting of the state of emergency and that elections be held according to the planned timetable.’ -SANA
