Education must for development: BB

ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Pakistan People Party and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has said education is must for development and PPP attached great importance to education. In her messaged on the International Literacy Day, she said that education holds a key role to our survival and development she said that societies on the move cannot afford to remain oblivious to the need of acquiring the tools of knowledge added that PPP attached great importance to education.

That is why PPP has made education along with employment, energy and environment as its call for the advancement of people, she maintained. She said,” More than 880 million adults the world over, two thirds of them women, are illiterate and there are so many things to be done in the field of education.”

She said “The year 2007 is election year in Pakistan. On the eve of International Literacy Day, PPP reiterates its commitment to making massive investments in education to improve the quality of life and well being of our peoples.”International Literacy Day is marked throughout the world on September 8 and on this day various institutions and organizations arrange events to highlight the need for strengthening the education infrastructure in the world.-SANA
