Sharif brothers given remission, not pardoned

ISLAMABAD: Attorney General of Pakistan Malik Muhammad Qayum has said that Sharif brothers were given remission in sentences and not pardon. Talking to media persons here on Friday, he said in case of such remissions, the penalties regarding confiscation of property, imposition of fine and disqualification remain intact, but arrest is not made.

He said the president can restore sentences on the advice of the Prime Minister adding that President Pervez Musharraf will be re-elected as president in uniform in accordance with the constitution, because he has already been once elected President in this position. He said article 63 of the constitution does not apply on the President General Pervez Musharraf. He said the president does not need to take vote of confidence from the assemblies.-SANA
