The Prime Minister said this while talking to Sir Anwar Pervaiz, a leading overseas Pakistani, who called on him at Prime Minister House here on Monday. The Prime Minister said Pakistan’s structural growth and reform agenda has created a favorable environment and new opportunities for the investors. He said the investors have confidence to invest in many fields including power generation, telecommunication, real estate and construction, engineering and agri-based industry. All these fields, he said, are open for investors from all over the world and the government would do whatever is necessary to facilitate new investment in the country.
Shaukat Aziz said that overseas Pakistanis are a valuable asset for Pakistan and the government will continue supporting them in every way. He said the seven and a half million overseas Pakistanis are playing a major role in their countries of residence in addition to remitting over 5.5 billion dollars to Pakistan. He thanked Sir Anwar Pervaiz for his efforts to promote Pakistan’s image in the UK and the numerous investments he has undertaken in Pakistan which have helped creating jobs, increase production and exports and provided opportunities for development of several areas of the country.
Sir Pervaiz informed the Prime Minister that he is setting up a 200 megawatt power plant in Pakistan to meet the growing energy needs of the country. This, he said, is a reflection of the strong economic growth and the investor friendly policies of the government which have attracted many investors to the country.
